Coast Care

Logo Design & Brand Identity

Project Outline

Coast Care were looking to expand their reach in the Sea-to-Sky corridor on the west coast of Canada and needed new branding to represent their presence. The business provides in-home care and assistance for people who need personal care due to short/long term disabilities, post-surgical care, palliative care for clients on their final journey, and especially for seniors wanting to maintain their independence at home. I was tasked to create branding that conveyed a message of compassion & dignity, combined with a professional & trustworthy tone that gives clients confidence their loved ones are in competent, caring hands.

Logo Construction

Taking inspiration from these keywords I was able to combine iconography that reflected the business at its core. Together they form a mix of circular and straight line shapes, which tap into the psychology of the mind, and suggest reinforcement of stability, unity and trust.

Typography

I chose a sans serif typeface for the logotype on this design, as the company was looking to be a identifiable, modern presence in the home health care industry. I felt that a serif solution may come across too dated for this project, and so a friendly and engaging sans serif choice made sense.

Colour Palette

Once again I referred back to earlier discussions with the client regarding the tone of the brand when choosing the colour scheme. Purple was chosen as a primary hue, a colour often associated with dignity and a word that was consistently referred to in correspondence. Combining this with calming and trustworthy blues and teal, evokes a sense of professionalism and confidence the client was after. Finally, to accent this a pink worked well to reflect the notion of love and kindness.
